RARELY EXPLORED AREAS OF RAS AL KHAIMAH

We went exploring yesterday evening to the hills on the RAK - Oman border. I am yet to find out the name of the place, but definitely it is worth a see! The amatuer video shown here was shot at the begining of our journey. We didn't go the complete mile as there are some places which can't be reached without a 4X4. Got some pictures too. The ultimate aim is to reach the summit which is the Etisalat tower around 1000metres above ground level.

The local ruler is building a 7* Hotel on the top, which is currently not accessible. The recent media reports of snowfall were in the same region. Look forward to winter this year...

I will not publish the direction to this place as the road is still under construction, but the best hint to take would be to take the road from Kharran towards Saqr hospital and simply drive straight on...

Swine Flu Pandemic...

Today the WHO made a statement that the swine flu virus has pandemic potential because it is infecting people. (A pandemic is an epidemic of infectious disease that spreads through populations across a large region.)

The committee concluded that it needed more information about the outbreak before any decision could be made about raising the pandemic alert status, which is currently Level 3, meaning very limited spread of virus from person to person.

"We can't escape the air," said Antonio Gonzáles, 56, who wore a surgical mask outside a public hospital. "If it was something in the food, we'd have a chance."
